g-d killing herself + next shows + recent photos.

although the new friends fest afterglow has subsided and we’ve all returned to our usual routines, we still remain as busy as ever. we've got a new song out (!!!), a ton of photos that kai took over the last few weeks, and a few more shows left this month before we take september off to write new songs & replenish our health bars.

art by faith & kai.

we've uploaded our track from do you know where your friends are?—select copies of which are still available—for those of you without cassette players. you can listen to it here or via the handy player embedded above (thanks to punknews.org for the feature)! if you've seen us at all this summer, you already know that we've been playing this song in every set since june. if you haven't, we hope you dig it. <3

first up: we're back in hamilton this wednesday. we'll be hitting the infamous doors pub w/ canisbay from niagara in support of d-beat warriors destruido & agravio coming all the way from guadalajara! tickets can be purchased cheaper in advance here if that's your thing. thanks to jesse for putting this on; we’re stoked to fuck up the vibes completely.

next monday @ bar orwell: a benefit show for migrants resource centre canada, facilitated by c.p.s.o. (canada-philippines solidarity organization), featuring us, toast’s new band gutmachine, banjo ryan playing folk songs as dionaea spouse, and faith spinning as dj feral catgirl alongside meeks! in addition, it'll also double as a birthday show for toast! :) it’s gonna be the weirdest mixed bill of the summer—come down & support a good cause if you can.

last one for august: our first time in st. catharines! we'll be playing alongside one thousand times goodnight & moe killed my cool, 2 of the city's newest; e-mail us or contact mt. vile for the address.

finally: all those photos we keep mentioning. we didn't even play the whinerack show, but we feel it needs to be documented here.

new friends fest.

where do we even start?

pg.99 by kai.

new friends fest was fucking amazing. thank you to everyone who saw us bright & early, everyone who bought a tape or a record, everyone that said something kind to us—we love all of you so much. em moore of punknews.org wrote this glowing passage about our set:

"Right at 6 pm, Boxcutter hit the stage in the Death Room and proceeded to hand us our asses for the next 30 minutes. The band kicked out songs from their 2022 EP it’s more like embracing and from their recently released split with Treehouse of Horror and Please Don’t Crash, What Good Does Getting Angry Do?, with an infectious energy that had the crowd dancing and moshing within minutes. Lead vocalist and guitarist Toast’s vocal delivery was absolutely phenomenal. Her screams were visceral and full of so much emotion. Several times during the set, she jumped off the stage and continued playing in the middle of the crowd without missing a beat. Along with Toast’s vocals and guitar, Faith’s deep bass tone, Kai’s frenetic drumming, and Banjo Ryan’s beautifully haunting cello created a layered sound that compelled you to move as close to the stage as possible. In between songs Toast spoke about the ongoing Metro workers strike, the vileness of Doug Ford (especially when it comes to the move towards privatization of healthcare in Ontario), the importance of fighting for trans rights, and the urgent need for all of us to organize, mobilize, and fight for what we believe in. At the end of their set Toast fell to the floor with her guitar on top of her as feedback filled the room, having given her all to the crowd. To say Boxcutter kicked off the weekend with a bang would be an understatement."

a thousand shouts go out to all of the amazing bands & wonderful people we met last weekend (there's legitimately too many to name) for making it the absolute highlight of our first year as an actual band. there were innumerable moments that shifted our lives forever, but it can't be overstated how much pg.99 alone made for the set of a lifetime. <3

kai got some photos from the last few shows (including ostraca + .gif from god @ whinerack) that we'll post some time tomorrow, probably. p.d.c. & treehouse both had to drop our formal record release show at the last second due to illness (apparently not due to COVID—thankfully everyone's feeling better already), but wolf fang & waste youth still kicked out the jams with us to make up for it.

speaking of shows—we're playing this benefit show for bampot tonight (in a few hours, to be exact) with treehouse & growing fins that's sure to be a rager. photos from this will be up tomorrow, too.

anyway... more on all of this later.

love your friends. die laughing.

do you know where your friends are?

"tour" may be over, but we've still got more stuff going on this month than we can keep track of...

we haven't formally announced it here yet, but kai & treehouse ryan got the chance to put together a very cool compilation for new friends fest this year (featuring more bands than we can fit in the tags) that's got a new boxxy song on it. it'll only be available at new friends fest, but you can pre-order it for pick-up here.

split records just came in last week—you can grab those here or herewe're playing a release show for it @ toronto style a couple of days after new friends fest with our lovely split-mates in addition to our buddies in wolf fang fist & waste youth. it'd be swell to see everyone there... :~)

flyer by kai & p.d.c. alex.

as well, kai & the whinerack crew booked an insane last-minute show for tomorrow that's acting as a sort of officially unofficial pre-fest: the almighty ostraca & .gif from god are gracing the house with their total sonic destruction. we'll be busy resting up for our set the next day, but you bet p.d.c. & treehouse are all over that. send us an e-mail if you're looking for the address.

...but back to our shows. this just got announced the other day—our first-ever trek out to st. catharines is happening later this month courtesy of mt. vile. we're super excited to keep roving around the province, even if we're down a car...

we've also got a grip of photos kai took in london & hamilton as per usual. london was surprisingly fun ("intimate" as it was—thanks for coming, david!) & hamilton was a blast: we'll be back real soon.
