screamo pride month begins in 5 days.

small things coming soon in boxxy world. some news:

• new friends fest is less than a week away and we're pretty excited. you can see us play next sunday (august 2nd) with, in order: underwater basket weaving, coup d'état, gros enfant mort, poetry of torch, joliette, quiet fear, ostraca, commitment, tomb mold, clay birds & portraits of past. we're on 3rd after coup d'état.
• we've got some new shirts that we'll have ready in time for it and you can see the designs for all of them below.
• we have a new song on this year's fest comp, entitled Doomed From the Start; it's called "raptured" and we'll put it up online some time after fest is over.
• before august is over, we'll also have a new tape documenting some songs we recorded for the lovely people at met radio (cjtm 1280 am) this past january. we played 4 new songs (including "raptured") and an oldie, so if you'd like a sneak peek at what we're sounding like these days, look out for a post on that sooner or later. our sincere thanks goes out to delphine winton for putting up with our antics that day, letting us try too many takes of one song in particular, and for doing a great job capturing a packed set-up.
• aaaaand finally: we're touring up to the maritimes and back with our dear friends in body nest at the end of august. this'll be the farthest we've ever been from home as a band, so we're more than a little nervous to be actually gone for more than a couple of days, but we're very stoked, and we hope we can represent our city as best as we can. we'll have more details and a poster with all the dates up as soon as we can (probably after fest)—you can get a rough idea of the route via the "upcoming shows" widget (visible to your right on desktop, and viewable on mobile if you select the "view web version" option below this post and zoom in a bit).

we're still sleeping, but here's a few neat things:

our set from new friends fest last year is now up via scoped exposure! thanks to spencer, tera & ror for filming, and james goldmann at nu house studios for mixing & mastering. we look & sound pretty beat here but we're very happy to have this document of an amazing weekend. and remember: there's no space in boxcutter!

influx (kai's other other band) released an EP this past weekend! give it a listen if you dig lockin' out & youth crew-influenced hardcore.

lastly, we have another cassette press of it's more like embracing up for sale—edition of 30 hand-dubbed copies with risograph-printed j-cards & inserts. you can buy one directly from us via bandcamp or through the maraming records shop if you so desire.

although the new friends fest afterglow has subsided and we’ve all returned to our usual routines, we still remain as busy as ever. we've got a new song out (!!!), a ton of photos that kai took over the last few weeks, and a few more shows left this month before we take september off to write new songs & replenish our health bars.

next monday @ bar orwell: a benefit show for migrants resource centre canada, facilitated by c.p.s.o. (canada-philippines solidarity organization), featuring us, toast’s new band gutmachine, banjo ryan playing folk songs as dionaea spouse, and faith spinning as dj feral catgirl alongside meeks! in addition, it'll also double as a birthday show for toast! :) it’s gonna be the weirdest mixed bill of the summer—come down & support a good cause if you can.
