thanks to everyone who came, willa & ryan for stepping in to do guest vox for our whole set, mother maggie for allowing us to use the space in the first place, and to our buds in cloudwatch, purity culture, and the almighty TERRY GREEN for an amazing night—we love all of you very, very much. listen to PROVISIONAL LIVING, out now on zegema beach, and get yourself a copy here or here.

see ya real soon.

screamo summer is finally upon us, but we're taking one last look back on winter: we're a few months late, but we finally got around to editing the metric ton of photos we took during our basque weekender we did back in march. here's what we got up to:

en route to milton; farah's car hit a curb before we even got there.

third moon after hours.
:)

driving through a snowstorm to milton fucking sucked, but the show itself was pretty cozy. some guy came through later and bought everyone like 7 pizzas, completely on the house, before nick gleaned that he was anti-vax weirdo. apparently nate slept at third moon. it was goofy.

after finding out the next morning that something was wrong with the car (just our luck), we scrambled to figure something out for the rest of the weekend; toast ending up getting a rental and willa offered to drive us to & from kitchener the night after. we press on!

kolanko & the arcade's lovely pup whose name we forget...

the arcade was cool as usual, probably the best night we've ever seen there. we couldn't push to the front in time to get any photos of flowersfightforsunshine (sorry y'all) but they were sick. and always had their bass amp explode mid-way through their second last song and called it, which meant that both us & basque had to run bass through the vocal monitors... total chaos. we found out after our set that some kids got waaaaay too mosh-y and nearly killed the vibe, which was a bummer, but not enough to derail the night completely. the house itself can't physically handle that kinda action, so if you're reading this and ever plan on stopping by, please don't get too rowdy there! we barely have house venues in the city as it is.

thankfully for us, the last day went off without a hitch. we all met up in 'sauga to catch our ride with willa (who drove down straight after work to pick us up); we even made it early enough to grab a proper dinner (an increasingly rare feat) and do some stretching before our set. we've gotten word that jane bond seems to be done as a venue, so it feels fitting to look back on it again now. hot on the heels of dive bar closing & the study room in eternal slumber, anyone else worried that they're gonna run out of places to play in KW soon?

here's a bunch of photos that willa took of us:

this was easily the best show of the weekend. everyone was firing on all cylinders, and the hometown crowd was especially hungry for basque. playing shows with all your friends really doesn't get old.
